Democratic Challenger for Binghamton Mayor, Miles Burnett, Significantly Outraises Incumbent Republican

Burnett raised $76,340, besting his opponent by 33% with nearly twice as many individual donors in this election cycle’s first financial filing

Binghamton, NY — The Miles Burnett for Mayor of Binghamton Campaign raised a significant sum in the opening months of the city’s mayoral race. Since announcing in February, Burnett has raised $76,340 from 397 individual donors. The Burnett campaign credits this early success to its community outreach efforts and its focus on issues that matter most to working people, namely housing, community safety, youth services, and affordability. Burnett outraised his opponent by $26,000, or 33%, and had nearly twice as many donors, according to the July periodic filing.

The impressive filing demonstrates strong momentum and grassroots support for the Democratic and Working Families Party candidate. Over the last several months, the campaign has held numerous fundraisers, toured dozens of small businesses, and met with neighbors at house parties throughout the City. The campaign has connected with thousands of residents at community events and will continue to focus on voter engagement as it pushes toward the November election.
